Performance Royalties, PRS, ASCAP etc
Our licence is royalty-free to the production company. Our composers do potentially receive performance royalties from broadcasts however this doesn't cost you or the broadcaster anything. Performance royalties are funded out of the broadcaster's licence with the relevant society, such as PRS in the UK or ASCAP in the US. The usage just affects how the broadcaster's licence fee is divided up among different publishers and composers.
Cue Sheets
Broadcasters require programmes to be delivered with a "music cue sheet" stating what music has been used along with durations. This has to be done whether the music is royalty-free or not. Your only obligation to us after buying our licence is that you report the use of our music on such cue sheets and email a copy of cue sheets to cuesheets@cuttothebeat.com. This allows us to collect performance royalties and keep our prices low.
